During 2002, there were two induction ceremonies held, one in St. John's and one in Stephenville, which saw four people inducted into the Hall of Fame. Thanks again to our corporate sponsors, Molson's (Doug Grant) & Grand Marnier (Rob Collingwood).

Golf Hall Of Fame Adds New Members 

 

Gerry Angel , chairman of the Newfoundland and Labrador Golf Hall of Fame , announced recently that two members were elected into the Golf Hall of Fame for 2003. Inducted into the Athlete Category was Fred Rockwood from the Grand Falls Golf Club and in the Athlete / Builder Category was Charles Earle from Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville.

 

Rockwood was a member of the Provincial Willington Cup team in 1966 , 1969 and 1973 and was the Amateur champion in 1969. He was a member of the Newfoundland Senior team six times , from 1985 to 1990 , and was Senior champion in 1989. He also captured many local tournaments.

 

Earle qualified for four senior teams and represented this province at the Canadian championship in 1991 , 1992 ,1994 and 1996. He has been heavily involved in the Provincial Golf Association for 15 years , including President in 1988 , 1989 and President elected for 2004. He has worked very hard running and supporting the Newfoundland junior program. For 25 years Charlie has held a variety of positions at the Harmon Club.
